theory about the black choir at the end

Many people have mentioned how out of place the back choir is at the end of the movie. It's a great touch to the end of the film, but like many have noted it's rather out of place in the way that town is depicted. My theory is that perhaps it's a choir from a nearby town that Bruce enjoyed visiting. We see the woman from the beauty parlor, but it's not unreasonable to think that she may travel some to go to that church and attend the choir.

Thoughts?

In the commentary, which is recommended for those who can get the DVD (it has the director and the two female leads), the director notes that she had a choir like that where she was from. I would supposed that the black woman from the beauty parlor lives somewhere nearby and Ray Ray's mom maybe even goes to the church. Given the connection with Alex and all, there are enough connections there to help explain how they would show up at the funeral.
