I have a couple of questions...
1.) Did Montgomery give that one animal(the one who shot the leopard at the trial) the gun that he did that with? That's what they insinuated, but why did he do that?
2.) So, Moreau was going to kill Douglas? to Help his "daughter"?
3.) Was the Hyena the one who killed the rabbit? Or esle, why was the leopard growling at him and the Hyena started screaming "No, no!" and then ran away.
4.) To anyone who's read the book, is it any good?
Read the book its good, well ok im just saying that because its the right thing to say, but really the movie was a lot cooler that the book {not always the way} the book is cool in that when it was written thoughts like this were kept to yourself. You know darwin's theory.

1. im not sure about that question. i always got the impression montgomery gave it to him, but then montgomery turned to douglas so he wouldnt look guilty. (like he was trying to make it look like douglas gave it to him so he turned his head towar him)
2. Yes, moreau was going to take his life to use his dna to complete Assia (the cat girl)-it clearly states that in the dialouge between assia and douglas.
3. another very good question. i have the movie on dvd and had to look back. The hyena has blood on his face, but the leopard did not. Because they saw the Lo-Mai leapard drinking, they assumed it to kill the rabbit, they never saw hyena. The leopard was probably mad at hyena because although he was guilty of "slupring drink from stream" it was really hyena who killed flesh. that may have been why hyena said "lo-mai" nervously. because he knew he was guilty and didnt expect the father to say "Do you hear, Lo-Mai"?
4. Yes-the book is great
I may be an atypical contributor, because I haven't seen the movie yet, but I just read the book today, and it was very good, if a bit short.
shareMontgomery was looking at Douglas because he wanted him to keep quiet and not rat him out.. remember in the beginning how Montgomery snapped the neck of the rabbit.. Douglas was there and he knew..
i got the impression that Montgomery gave the tuxedo guy (didn't understand his name) that dart gun..
