This is a really, really long shot but..

Do you think there's ever a chance for Richard Stanley to direct a new version of this using his original script? Because I just read his original script for the movie and it's great!

Thoughts?

I obviously don't know for sure, but my guess is that there isn't a chance in hell for that.

It's really too bad also, because this is a movie that seriously needs to be remade again. The story is great - and this production cut out some very crucial parts to the story. A proper remake which followed the story very closely would be a great movie.

I still think this production was a decent movie (much better than the 4.0 rating everyone has given it). But it isn't nearly as good as it could have been.

*SPOILERS*

I loved the movie, but it was missing something.. i can't pin it down exactly.. it had like lots of symbolism but it wasn't really prevalent in the movie until the end (and when moreau was killed, sort of like they killed god and could do what they wanted, power, drugs, sex, etc)

also i would've liked to see more background on the tuxedo beastman (one of moreau's "son"s but without ruining the surprise of his betrayal (kind of like judas).. i know he wanted power but they never really say why.. and there's no relationship between the brothers, but that wasn't really necessary i guess..

i like to walk away from a movie with some provoked thought or have learned something and this film did the job IMO..

I believe the "tuxedo" beastman was disgruntled because Dr. Moreau would have him beaten whenever he did something wrong. He mentions to Fairuza's character before he hangs her that the Dr. never beat her, but that he was beaten. I believe his anger comes from years of abuse by the Dr. Although he's treated well-enough compared to many of the other humanoid animals, but that's the point, Dr. Moreau saw him as nothing more than an animal and therefore gave him no real respect. Kind of like a trained monkey. That is what I gathered from the movie.
