So many dumb people keep bashing the sequel, including the critics. Independence Day was good but the sequel was even better. People don't appreciate something good when they see it. If you like Independence Day I would certainly recommend the sequel, you will no doubt like it even better.

It's a great explanation, which, IMHO, makes this specific sequel pointless. (Now if we speaking as if aliens are real, I'm not saying a second attack isn't possible...the universe is vast and we have no idea what's out there...but I am sure someone with David's background and experience would be able to figure out inconsistencies in the alien's technological system.)
I know with a film like this, I am just supposed to enjoy it for what it is, a blockbuster. Personally, I am just tired of Hollywood regurgitating movies from sequels, but that's another thread...
I'm watching the original now after recently finishing the sequel. Don't get me wrong. I like the sequel a lot, but I do realize what's missing. Even today, the original builds up suspense that the new one doesn't. The new film is exciting and fun, but it didn't have the same mood as the original.
