No reason at all to remake this

I had no idea this tv film existed until I caught it on cable today. If there ever was a project that didn't need a reboot, this is it. I read the book and have seen the movie many times. They transferred Capote's book to the screen and did an amazing job.

Shame on them. The tv film shows the blooded mattresses & sheets being burned a farm hand? That was evidence. The KBI would not have left it there after removing the bodies. Also why make the outside of the house like that. Big porch, lots of rocks inlayed at the base. Even though Mr Clutter was successful they were very plain people and lived in a nice but very very simple farmhouse. Even the inside with all that dark woodwork was wrong in the film.

Anthony Edwards was completely miscast as Dick and also Eric Roberts as Perry. Edwards talks with a slow drawl to me. Dick Hickock was a country boy but he was a smooth talker & slick with the con. I never bought Edwards as him. Eric Roberts personality is too strong for him to have pulled off Perry. If he had to be in this he should have played Dick. In one scene Perry is shown shirtless on a home movie ,looking buff, singing and reminded me of an Elvis-like heartthrob. The real Perry (half Native America)was a loser with a low IQ, lazy eye and bad leg, who was also a follower. Edwards fit neither role.

Buy the 1967 original film or wait for TCM or another channel to air it. It will stay with you as long as you live.

FYI, the real Perry WAS "buff", and the one with the "lazy eye" was Dick due to his car accident. Perry did have a bad leg due to his motorcycle accident. Now Perry (& Dick) def lacked a sensible moral code but low I.Q.? I doubt that.
