Her character is a doctor who performs abortions that is shot to death by a crazed pro-lifer. It's rather horrific and haunting.
shareI am pro-life, and it makes me absolute nauseated that someone who claims to be pro-life would do something like that. Killing is wrong, no matter how it is done.

I only think this because after she had been shot, Heche's character *can't remember her name in the movie, sorry* crouched beside her, turned her over, and I think she had been clutching her stomach.... not sure? Then Heche's character sort of exclaimed.... so I know she was clearly in a state of SERIOUS shock - I mean... it's understandable - but um, did it take you that long to figure out she'd been shot dead after 6 bullets fired, and the assistant running out of the room yelling "Dr. Thompson's been shot"...??
This is what makes me believe that she believed that Thompson was pregnant. Earlier, also, when the Dr. was taking off her bullet proff vest, I kinda noticed her stomach to be a bit bulgy. And I guess it would have added a whole next dimension to the whole thing: sure, she provides abortions because of her generous character, but she was excited to be a mother (again) herself, you know what I mean?
Maybe I'm stretching it... maybe she just died...
Even if it's done in self-defense?
