I have a serious medical condition so I had to terminate my pregnancy at 13 weeks gestation. It was a difficult decision to make. If you think women have abortions because they are lazy, think again. I didn't see any posts here of abortions related to health problems.

What about all the kids brought into the world that starve to death and are orphans,sick, abused, or neglected? I hear you. not cool. Reminds me of the situation in Africa, it is quite common for a woman/mother seeing 3 of her kids dying of starvation and illness, and to be pregnant with another one. They keep breeding, it's very sad.
shareTrust me. They don't want to keep "breeding". A woman has no contraception and can't say NO to her husband. Trying to space out pregnancies can be difficult when the husband makes no effort to cooperate. They see it as God's will.

You terminated your pregnancy due to a medical reasons. I can see how you may feel this is a valid arguement, but medically necessary abortions account for less than 1% of abortions performed. There are a far larger number of abortions performed for much poorer reasons.

sure I would never nor could never put myself in that position.

I am of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, and my parents are both carriers of the Tay-Sachs gene. Tay-Sachs, for those who don't know, is a genetic disorder found almost exclusively in Ashkenazi Jews in which a baby develops normally for a few months, then slowly begins to deteriorate. Usually, the baby suffers severe mental retardation, painful movement, loss of senses, and death by early childhood. There is no known treatment or cure.
Fortunately, my fiance is not a carrier, so there is little-to-no chance of it happening to us, but if my parents had discovered that one of their children was going to be born with Tay-Sachs, my mother would have aborted, no questions asked. If you believe that abortion is murder, I can respect that, even if I don't agree with it, but I feel that some fates are worse than death, and condemning a child to the four to six years of the living hell that is Tay-Sachs is one of them.
