Loathe what Schaeffer did to McPherson

So he spies on her in her apartment, making him a voyeur, and that's okay. Turns out she knew he was spying, making her an exhibitionist (sort of), and that makes her a slut in his book, and it's over. Huh? Excuse me? He has made her feel so loved, so secure. He has told her she has zero chance of being kissed by any other man, that he will always be there, and because she did something slightly naughty, not with somebody else, but with him, he's off her like a flea off a hot coal?

And what his character does (since her wrote and directed his character) makes me despise Schaeffer himself. I have this feeling he was extremely immature when he made this movie (I hope he's better now). I can hear him saying to himself, "man, one day I'm gonna write a movie for myself where a supermodel falls in love with me and I make her cry." Because that, for no good dramatic reason I can see, is exactly what he did. What a tool.

The Republican Plan: repeal all reform; collect payoffs; go yachting (but not in the Gulf).

Shaeffer leaves McPherson because after he says he wants them to be in a commited relationship she tells him they're not relationship material.

For McPherson it was a fling, nothing serious, just another guy - but Schaeffer thought they had a future. He was in love with her, but she wasn't in love with him and knew she never could be.

As for why Schaeffer wrote a story about supermodel falling in love with him, I'll let other people discuss that...

Joe (Schaeffer) was never in love with Jane (Elle's character). She was this unattainable beauty that he admired from afar. It didn't take him too long once he met her to realize that he had been 'in love' with an ideal rather than the real woman. And he realized that he was already in love with his best friend...which I think deep down he probably already knew but had been too scared to admit to himself.

And Jane was never 'in love' with Joe either. She was completely aware that Joe was 'spying' on her. She actually encouraged it by leaving her windows wide open so he could see her and doing alot of her stuff in front of the windows. She told Joe that she thought it was cute. Joe's behavior flattered her so she encouraged it. And Joe was just another guy in a long string of guys for her. It was just a fling for her, nothing more. She changed guys all the time. Heck, when Joe turned her down, she had a new guy in the apartment with her that same night. Joe didn't consider Jane a 'slut' (though she kinda was IMHO...not because of the exhibitionist thing but having a new guy over almost every time we see in her window). I think Joe realized that Jane had been 'leading him on'. It was not the other way around. He realized that he was just going to be another notch on her bedpost. I don't think Jane ever had any intention of having a 'real' relationship with Joe and he finally realized that. Sex does not equal a real, loving relationship. Joe wanted a real relationship and Jane didn't. That is largely why Joe left, and it also opened his eyes to the fact that he already had a real loving relationship with Lucy.
