Andy's Weirdness

I'm a big fan of Andy Warhol's art, but not so much his personality. I kind of think that Ms.Scum's plan could have been avoided if Andy had told her to get lost. He thought she was kind of crazy yet he wouldn't tell her to leave them alone. I didn't understand that part of the scenario, and why on earth would he want to produce such a hateful piece of art? Any feminist who thinks that the scum manifesto is impowering is totally out of line. It was nothing but a hateful diatribe about the particular men that Valerie has come into contact with! I'll end by saying that this is a great movie and very enjoyable to watch. Lili Taylor is one of the best and most underrated actresses of our time!

Andy was really shy and you can obviously tell that he was kind of scared of her so im sure that has to do with something.

Also, i think the SCUM manifesto was portraying what she thought of all men...it's not that the men she was with were scum....it's just what she has thought her whole life...and also being molested by her own father had something to do with it...plus she was insane....so honestly you shouldn't be offended....

He was just really strange so it's not surprising he attracted weird people.

he wasn't even that great of an artist. He painted some cans, filmed a guy sleeping, and did lots of drugs.

Andy's art is packed full of symbolism, which is why to the untrained eye (or someone who isn't familiar with what Pop was all about), it appears to be crap.

His art was, "Sh*t," and he had no talent. I can't stand elitists who say, "The untrained eye cannot tell that his art is great." Please. He painted soup cans and pictures of Marilyn Monroe. He was NOT a great artist. Not to mention that the fact that the only reason people dug his art was strictly because it was trendy.

'Iamnessie'--Andy never drank or took drugs, it was only those around him who did.

And he loved 'crazy' people, because they gave him all his ideas.

Former Factory folks said he took Obetrol (an amphetamine) ~

I think Andy liked to collect characters and would have been intrigued by the shock aspect of her writing as well as her rough personality. He was known to say that sex is an overrated bore, as he does in the movie when he connects with her at the party, so he must have sensed she was a kindred spirit on some level, even if she ultimately was too much for him or he felt he couldn't help her.

He had an open door policy at the Factory; like the Beatles at Apple Records at the time, he believed that welcoming the freaks into his scene would give the place a more creative and interesting atmosphere. Valerie was supposed to add color to the studio, say some rude things for his films, and, when the gang got tired of her, she was supposed to take the hint and go. Of course that's not how she saw it.

Andy equals cold fish.

I actually like Andy's weirdness. I see him as a soft spoken sensitive guy, and I think I'd have liked to hang out with him.

The others in the Factory probably wouldn't like me, though (if they're portrayed accurately in the movie).
I'm not glamorous at all.
They thought that one lady was fat, and she really wasn't. They'd probably think I was a whale.

Anyway, I wasn't born until 1982, so...yeah.

I'm really soft spoken and a non attention getter and have many people see me as "weird" because I don't follow everyone and never have. I am a total loner.
I actually get sick of the whole social scene and world at large and cut myself off from it for months, otherwise I'd go crazy!

I think Andy was soft spoken and sensitive and probably depressed too.
he wasn't pushy with anyone, if you noticed at the party scene he stayed in the back ground while everyone danced and partied and socialized, he just watched.
or he sat on that orange couch seemingly bored by it all.
I relate! while it LOOKS fun, to me it's all kinda boring too.
his "friends" most likely weren't friends at all just hangers-on.

I have tried to "socialize" with fun-loving party folk and I just can't get into it.
Amanda! his pals wouldn't have liked me either, because I'd have "hidden" away in some dark corner hahaha
