A really good movie, but...

I think this movie was incredibly amazing to what certain people might disagree with me about it, but I find it disappointing to find true informations about the real life people, but still giving the wrong year of their death or anything like that! Like for an exemple, "Valerie Solanas" died in 1988, not 1989. And also "Candy Darling", who was a transexual, died in 1974 of a complication of AIDS. The other and last reason that actually disappointed me in the movie and something that proved over-exageration to my view is that they interpreted the character of "Valerie Solanas" as a crazy psychotic freak, which certainly wasn't who she was in real life. She was just a women trying to deliver a message to people. And as my mom says, all feminists are like this. Yes, indeed, they can get pretty crazy when things don't get in their way, but it doesn't represent them as crazy women, just because they want to prove their points. They always have a reason to get angry and the main reason is "men". But, people might think that she was trying to judge the mens and mens only, but it didn't mean she hated them as far as to eliminate them by force. No. But, one thing I know is that "Andy Warhol" had no reason to get shot. He sure did shocked a lot of people, but not as a point of killing him for that. Maybe "Valerie" had a reason to shot him, but was never really exposed, since the movie. And the movie was supposed to be a documentary, but there was just not enough footages of her to show the reality of this women, so they decided to make a movie instead. But hey, you can't blame the movie for that. The movie was romanticize and the informations were taking from the book "S.C.U.M Manifesto" by the ultimate "Valerie Solanas". I didn't read the book yet and still don't know if all the informations were taking from the book, but how do they know if "Candy Darling" actually met "Valerie Solanas"? Maybe it's my lack of research or anything, but I'm just curious! ;)

What do you guys think? What did you hate about this movie so much?

I don't hate the movie; it might have some flaws however.

I believe they couldn't make a documentary because of other problems beyond the lack of real-life footage; there was a general lack of information about Solanas. Quite a bit of the movie, I think, is based on speculation or made-up episodes in order to have something to show in the film.

The fact that she tried to kill Warhol and two other people in his studio does seem to indicate that she was having mental problems at that point in her life.

I have read her book and it sheds no light on these issues. There are almost no autobiographical details and she does not mention Warhol, Candy Darling or anyone else she met during that period.

Candy Darling did not die of AIDS, which wasn't even a recognized medical syndrome in 1974.

I'm not saying Solanas was a "psychotic freak," but she was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic before she stood trial and spent a year in an asylum. So she obviously had a mental illness, and was not just a woman trying to get a message across
