his friends are dbags *spoiler*

omg I was getting annoyed with this movie, then his friends I thought were such huge a**holes, oh my god, because she likes to read, shes "not cool" and its "not cool" that hes dating her, and he likes her. I hated them, its so typical though. I was also annoyed with jude law, because she told him something very personal about her grandma, and he just said this is too intense lets get ice cream and watch a movie, thats when I knew he was all wrong for her, he was just a little boy.

I don't get why her being Jewish was such a huge deal. A Jew in New York?? No way! Was it because she was in a WASP-y prep school?

I'm thinking that anti-Semitism is a bigger problem in places like New York (with lots of Jewish people) than in my own state of Iowa (with reletively few).

I didn't get that either. Being Jewish in NYC isn't a big deal and I don't see how it could be unusual to have Jewish children at waspy prep schools. The only movie I've ever seen where it was a problem was "School Ties" but that was a boarding school in the 50's.

I think the a-hole friends were supposed to represent the like non-jewish/nazis people
who told Jude's character things to change his mind about Daisy like her
grandmothers' friend who didn't talk to her anymore because she believed what the nazis said.
