crackerbash?

what"s the song they play when the film starts, and why arn't they in the soundtrack?

The song is called Bandages. There is no explanation as to why they were left off the soundtrack, but here's my semi-informed take. Doug Pray made the movie and had them in mind for a sequence, as they were more well-known for their live show. Once he filmed them, he realized that they should be the opening. At the same time, they weren't really 'grunge" and didn't really "fit in" with the Seattle long-hairs. The soundtrack had too many labels invloved all vyeing for a spot for their bands, while the big wigs didn't see Crackerbash "selling" any soundtracks on their limited name familiarity. That is, until people saw the film and were left wondering about that first band....

*beep* there are plenty of non-grunge tunes on the soundtrack. plus, the soundtrack wasn't put together by doug pray, it was put together by the folks at sub pop, the label that released it.

"bandages" - such a great song. It's on their 'tin toy' 10"/CD, which i think was on eMpTy Records.

The version in the film is so much better than the studio recording, by the way
