This is a very Underrated Disney Film

It's actually one of the best films Disney has ever made. I think it is better than Beauty and the Beast for one example but it doesn't get anywhere near the amount of praise.

IDK about you, but I'll take this film over Aladdin any day.

Honestly, depending on the crowd, I can't tell if it's underrated or overrated so that probably means it's rated just right. It's certainly not better than Beauty and the Beast, but I don't think too many are claiming that anyway.

I agree. To me the The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the quintessential Disney film, in good (amazing songs and visuals) and in bad (like the "mandatory animal sidekicks for the kids" trope).

Had it been made entirely for adults, it could have been some of the greatest animated works done by then, not having to make concessions to be kid-friendly - like that no one dies except the bad guy, for example, or follow the ending of the original fable, where there was no happy ending for all.

Given that I have some reservations towards this movie, I wonder if Ralph Bakshi would've been a better choice for an animated Hunchback of Notre Dame film than Disney?

It's too dark.

It's definitely their most underappreciated film.

Nah, HarlemEagle42. That honor goes to the Black Cauldron. I like this okay but prefer other Disney films like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pinnochio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Peter Pan, and Alice in Wonderland.
