Crying??

In the library scene, Grover goes up to Brooke and says "You owe me a quarter!" At first it looks like she is laughing, then it looks like she is crying. Which is it??

I think she's crying because she's upset about her mom and how shes ruining her life or something

I asked my brother about that one a long time ago, he said it was because her mother was divorced. Although somehow I never quite believed that was the reason.

She started crying after grover told brooke "You owe me a quarter!" ,It was becouse her mother does not act like a mother, she copys brookes life... and acts like a teenager.

Uh-huh, sure it is!

Sure, that is part of the reason, but I think it was more to do with the book she was reading, and quite possibly, whilst reading a quote in the book, she applies it to her own life and let's say its got something along the lines of "The next person you see will be the person you will spend the rest of your life with"..and just as she reads that, Grover appears and says "You owe me a quarter" and she looks up and sees this wimpy little loser nerd standing there..then she puts her head down and Grover turns around confused, ready to walk off but quickly turns around and decides to stay, and as she looks up again, she crys even more upsettingly, as if him still being there when she looked up confirmed everything she read in the book.

Thats the reason believe it or not.

Any of those ideas is possible on what made Brooke break out in tears. It could also however be related only to what Grover said to her. Maybe she had no money at this particular time and was embarassed about having to say so to Grover given the weakness she might have been fearing he's see in her when she said "Sorry but I don't have a quarter right now" or it could also be that she'd have to ask her mother (whom she was not close to) for consent to give money to other kids at which point her mother would insist she introduce her to them first of all which would have been further humiliating for Brooke. More likely though her sobbing probably was more related to what she was reading or the issues between her mother and herself. It still is possible on the other hand that she was simply shattered over bad luck of not having what was neccessary to return Grover's favor to her right away.

She was crying because of her mom. She was probably being picked on by students about how her mom was acting.

She cried because she was at breaking point with her Mom, and all it took was Grover saying "You owe me a quarter" in a stern matter of fact tone to make her break down and ball her eyes out.
