Question

I am watching the Hellraiser series since I never have in my 36 years of life. In part 3, we were told that Pinhead couldn't take the box, he had to be offered it. However, in part 4, when Angelique has that fat guy open the box, Pinhead freely picks it up when he enters. I guess the writers don't pay attention to details from one movie to the next?

Elliot meant that if you have the box in your hands, he can't simply wrestle it from your grip, you either have to hand it to him or put it down. Since the box had already been solved by Sharpe and was left lying on the floor while he was dragged to Hell, it was free for any cenobite to pick it up.

However, the rule was seemingly broken later on in the movie(on the space station in the future) when Angelique telekinetically pulled the box from Edwards' hands after he tried to solve it and gave up. Still, it could be argued that his giving up trying to solve it and declaring it to be "just a box" could be construed as him relinquishing possession over it.
