Eric Roberts

Eric Roberts is hilarious in this film, the bit when he mumbles 'I can tell by your baby blue eyes,'and does a little pretendy fight move on Alec Baldwin totally cracks me up. Having said that, I only got about 45 mins into the film as I got bored.

I think the name Robicheaux is hilarious too, especially on the trailer when movie trailer guy says it. Why would the makers choose that name?

It was laughably *beep* But not in a good way like Death Wish 3!

Stay away from that playgound!

reply

What's wrong with the name Robichaux? I'm not from New Orleans or Louisiana so I'm not familiar with local names. It obviously has a French twist to it.

reply

Robicheaux is a Cajun name, so it's hardly surprising that it has a 'French twist' to it. Whatever a French twist is.

reply

Presumably he means 'French sounding'. So what's wrong with calling the character Robicheaux then?

When I said I wanted to be a comedian, they all laughed at me. Well, they're not laughing now!

reply

Try reading the whole thread rather than just one comment.

reply

Is that supposed to mean something? I did read the whole thread. It took about 30 seconds. I don't see why Robicheaux is a funny name. Someone said it was a cajun name and the film was in or near New Orleans.

When I said I wanted to be a comedian, they all laughed at me. Well, they're not laughing now!

reply

It means that you are a complete moron who doesn't understand what he's reading. It was me who said that Robicheaux was a Cajun name, and it was the OP who stated that he found the name funny. Between the two of you you could possibly make most of one person, braincell-wise.

Maybe if you'd taken more than 30 seconds to read the thread you would have understood. It seems unlikely, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

reply

So why are you being so rude? I'm not even from the States so I don't get the significance of the OP finding his name being funny. Just saying 'It's a cajun name' doesn't explain anything to me.

When I first saw this film I didn't think his name was funny, even though I'd never heard the name before.

When I said I wanted to be a comedian, they all laughed at me. Well, they're not laughing now!

reply

You're not from the States? Neither am I, but I am a huge James Lee Burke fan.

If you don't know what a Cajun is, then use Google or Wikipedia or whatever to look it up.

And no, there's nothing remotely amusing about his name, which is why I was irritated by the OP's post.

But wherever you're from, whether it's the US or Planet Mutty, you should be able to understand that it wasn't me who made the comment about the name being funny or strange in any way. Which is why I got annoyed with you, because you're simply not using your head.

It's a rubbish film anyway. If you want a much better take on Dave Robicheaux you should watch In The Electric Mist with Tommy Lee Jones playing DR. Much more like the book. I like Alec Baldwin, but he was totally unsuited to this part.

reply

Don’t mind Bogwart. He has a habit of embarrassing himself and completely missing the point (pardon the pun).
Ahem!

This is the single funniest thing I ever read:
"You're not from the States? Neither am I, but I am a huge James Lee Burke fan."
I may adopt said idiotic sentence as my signature.
You ever considered writing scripts Bogwart?

reply

Robicheaux is a better Cajun name to use than Boudreaux or Thibadeaux.
