Hard Core Logo screening/Q+A

Get your inner rocker on because on April 1st First Weekend Club’s Canada Screens is going to be taking you deep into the world of rock n' roll in Bruce Macdonald's HARD CORE LOGO.

A psuedo-rockumentary along the lines of 'This is Spinal Tap', we follow director Bruce Macdonald as he follows punk band Hard Core Logo (Hugh Dillon, Callum Keith Rennie and John Pyper-Ferguson)on a harrowing last-gasp reunion tour throughout Western Canada. As magnetic lead-singer Joe Dick holds the whole magilla together through sheer force of will, all the tensions and pitfalls of life on the road come bubbling hilariously to the surface.

April 1st may be "Fool's Day", but you don’t want to be a fool and miss out on this great movie!

After the screening, join special guests from the film (including author Michael Turner) for a special panel discussion.

A reception will follow to celebrate the release of SFU film professor Peter Dickinson's new book, "Screening Gender, Franking Genre: Canadian Literature into Film" (the book has an entire chapter dedicated to Hard Core Logo). Audiences can enjoy complimentary wine and beer at the reception.

The screening starts at 2PM at the Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour Street). Tickets are sold at the door for $10.00 (cash or Visa). RSVPs are highly recommended. To RSVP send an email to: [email protected] – please be sure to include your full name, number of tickets requested and how you heard of the event.
