Sequel?

Just watched an online episode of the "Hour" (no idea of the original air date) and in an Interview, Hugh mentioned Hard Core Logo 2. Has anyone heard anything else about this??

The following statement is true: The previous statement was false.

That wouldn't really make sense unless its a prequel.

Truthfully, even though their might be dollars in the project, it'd be a mistake to do. The ending comes as such a total surprise that it seems totally natural making a sequel/prequel problematic.

Money aside, why mess with perfection?

there's a small article [http://www.playbackonline.ca/articles/daily/20070725/greenberg.html] about funding for the project and bruce has been on 'the hour' talking about it. i just did a quick search on the hour's you tube page but couldn't find the video.

They are working on some stuff, God knows if it will ever make it to the screen. Dan MacIvor (awesome playwright) is involved.

this is aboout 'North by Northeast' - "And filmmaker Bruce McDonald will apparently be filming his sequel to 1996's Hard Core Logo at and around the fest, as well as screening his documentary on Toronto rockers Die Mannequin."

I saw this in the Toronto Stars: Living Section, August 26, 2008:
Bruce McDonald will be director, Hugh Dillion will somehow resurrect his character Joe Dick. It will be written by Daniel Maclvor.

Hard Core Logo II: Still Hard picks up 10 years after the original left off and sticks to a mockumentary style.

Part 3 – tentatively titled Hard Core Logo: 45s – will be shot in a more straight-up feature style and picks up roughly six months later. It was written by Canadian playwright Daniel MacIvor.

Film No. 4 is written by Fubar co-writer/star Paul Spence and McDonald even muses on a fifth

It is not just one sequel it will be a franchise as the paper said

B-movies fear me, I am Canadian

They are filming the sequel in a small town in Saskatchewan, Watrous. Sounds like it will center around a band with a female singer (played by Die Mannequin) channeling/inspired by Joe Dick. Apparently Buck Haight will have a more prominent role. That is what I understood of an interview with Bruce this morning (February 16, 2010) on the radio. Have to wait to find out more.

It's exciting that they are filming!

As per my earlier post:

Speaking of Hugh and Callum, what’s up with the new Hard Core Logo movie?

For many years we’ve been talking about doing a follow-up. Hugh and Callum have both been super busy so we thought that while we were waiting — and waiting to see if Joe Dick comes back from the dead — we could take some of the minor characters from the first movie and put them in the foreground. So Bucky Haight, who is their mentor in the original, becomes one of the major characters. I become a major character, too — I play the filmmaker who filmed the onscreen suicide of the unfortunate Joe Dick and who’s wracked with guilt. Care Failure and her band Die Mannequin play themselves — they’re recording an album with Bucky and I’m documenting it. She’s been channeling the spirit of Joe Dick — he’s writing songs through her. It’s crazy but it’s essentially the story of them making a record in this old dancehall in northern Saskatchewan or Kansas, depending on which country we embrace.

I’d done a couple of things with Die Mannequin and I just really got on with them and liked their attitude. I thought, “Hey, if we’re going to do a sequel for Hard Core Logo, let’s do the flipside.” The first one is masculine, Canadian and on the road. The second could be feminine, American and in the studio! Anyway, it’s something to do while we wait for Hugh and Callum to finish their high-paying cop shows and then we can figure out if there’s a No. 3. I know I sound a little bit insane but the music world is just a fun world to play in.
