Does anyone have any idea about a possible rerelease of this on dvd. It's up to $118.00 on Amazon. I like this film, but I'm not a complete sucker. If anyone one knows....

According to The Deal Report in the new Entertainment Weekly (#880/881, page 23 - June 9, 2006), Robert Altman is going to make a movie based on the documentary. In talks to star are Billy Bob Thornton, Hillary Swank, Chris Rock, and The Rock. Hmmmm.

I like Altman but I have a hard time imagining how a Hollywood cast is going to improve on the original. That said, I'm hoping that means a new DVD release of the original to coincide with the movie. The article makes no mention of this, but an Altman film would definitely renew interest in the original documentary and I can't imagine some company not buying the rights to distribute it. But so far there's no mention if this project on Altman's imdb page so who knows if it'll ever come to pass.

Thank you for the help. Best of luck to Robert Altman if he really does try to make a feature length film out of a documentary where people are basically just standing there. Maby he'll cast Tom Waits as the guy who wins.

I thought you were joking!

We bought the DVD when it first came out because we figured it wasn't going to last... but $100 for it... that's a rip off.

This dvd actually taught me to start thinking ahead about certain titles and whether or not they have a chance to go out of print. I hope that the Altman project will push for a re-do.

Altman seems really disinterested in the project at this point; I mean he chose to die rather than to give it a go-ahead.

I bought a budget-priced VHS copy of this several years ago. I wish I'd kept it instead of pawning it along with a bunch of my other tapes.

VHS? Y'all kidding me? VHS tapes are worthless, and will continue to be worthless. Only hard up movie watchers who won't and can't afford to shell money for out of production DVDs still collect VHS, and still talk about them like they are still in 'vogue' or something like that! Silly sheep!

Can y'all imagine some mindsets that these jokers are coming up with?! Some clowned trick, is going to try and do some ol' trusty 'speculatin' type of investment type of deal, by guessing what titles may or may not go out of print. Dag, like this would be like the stock market and the such. And that Stock Market garbage is a forced manufactured 'hidden' game that is strictly for the rich and wealthy scumbags. It never has or will lend any sort of helping hand to the poor folks.
