Wish it was set in the 1500s

Although I somewhat understand Branagh's decision to set this one in the 1700s rather than the 1500s, I kind of wish he kept it true to the time period of the play. This truly is the most authentic adaptations of Hamlet ever put on film aside from the fact that it's time period is clearly way more modern than the original play. It still works, but the gritty setting of the Mel Gibson version is definitely more authentic to me, which is why prefer his film. Still, if only this one kept the original setting and time period it probably would have surpassed the Mel Gibson film.
