mayweather and hatton

Remind me of this film

Damn you beat me to it. That was the exact same thing I was thinking. When the fight was first announced, everyone conceded that Mayweather was the overwhelming favorite. Now with all the hype, questions about Mayweather's focus, and Hatton's KO of a shot Castillo, people are starting to think Hatton is going win. I can't wait to see their faces after the fight though.

Hatton had something like 40 fights and was a legit champion at his weight class.

This film was really surprising in the sense that it had a very good grasp on the boxing world (even with the satire), but it is impossible that some no-name amateur with no pro fights would get a shot at a legit title, it wouldn't be sanctioned. I guess they could do it in a random place with no commission but it wouldn't sell, even McNeeley had many pro fights. The other unrealistic thing was the gate being 100 million, the current record is around 20 million.

There have been amatuer fighters with either no or practically no fights in the pros who have gotten title shots. Pete Radamacher against Floyd Patterson, Leon Spinks only had 7 or 8 pro fights before taking the title from a fat, old, unmotivated, experiencing early signs of Parkinson's version of Ali, and right now a Ukranian boxer named Lomanchenko who won medals at multiple Olympics but only had 1 or 2 pro fights is getting a title shot

I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

I did write "no-name amateur". The guys you listed were well known.

You know nothing about boxing. This is about Heavyweight and it didn't age well. A white man has ruled HW for over 10 years. Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko and now Tyson Fury. Wladimir will possibly win the rematch. There are black paper Heavyweight champions but that's all. Mayweather was a little midget that retired at one point when he could no longer run from challenges. Then he came back and picked and choosed which bums he would fight - only fighting in his own hometown. Perhaps he cares to return and dabble with GGG? I really don't think the Great Black Dope feels like getting embarrassed.
