Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore (don't give me that past his prime *beep* he fought for nearly 15 years after this and held a title for over 7 AFTER Marciano) Joe Louis was old but coming off of 7 wins. If we had someone like that today (even if they were 38, *beep* look at James Toney) they would be considered the best HW on the planet. Marciano had a higher KO ratio than George Foreman (not to take anything away from Foreman, who would probably beat Marciano).

And its a shame that boxing draws the primal racist out of people. I've been debating with this idiot ironfists simply because its fun, but realistically I like the klitchkos despite them deing a different hue than me. Its ignorant IMO to feel that a fighter represents a whole race, and fighting is somehow symbolic of a contest of athleticisms between two races. These are two individuals who trained to fight, and y people (like the person who started this post) takes so much pride in the color instead of the individual athlete is beyond me. All it is is a fight, proving one GUY is better than another.

shareBoxing, more than any sport is cyclical. It normally follows like this, the lower rungs of society are the boxers. 10s-20s White Americans, mostly immagrants. 30s-70s Black fighters. In the late 70s-present you have seen a lot of Mexican/ Latino fighters. Now you are seeing the Europeans, mostly former Soviet block. Next, I'm sure either Africa or Asian fighters will make up the majority.
What does it all mean? Boxing is an easy way to make money and if you are poor (and can't play football or basketball) that makes sense.

As I stated prior, you have no clue what you're talking about. First off, this "bigoted anti-white" movie was written by two white people. More importantly, the point of it all wasn't necessarily that all white people suck at boxing but that when it comes to selling products to a predominately-white buying public, they would rather support a manufactured white figure than an authentic black one. The same way that Vanilla Ice was manufactured by record companies as being a white guy from the streets, Terry Conklin, a retired amateur, is suddenly thrust into the spotlight as a serious contendor despite a non-existent record as a professional.

Clearly, you're reaching for any argument that you can find and won't be persuaded by something as trivial as acurrate information. I find it especially amusing that you seem to look at "Hype", a movie that clearly has a sense of humor, as being some great "anti-white propaganda" film written by two self-hating left-wingers.
If the film's writer Ron Shelton sees whites as inferior boxers, he certainly didn't seem to carry that feeling over to his next boxing-themed film, "Play It To The Bone" which happened to star Woody Harrelson (who last time I checked was in fact, a white guy) as a boxer who more than holds his own in the film's climatic battle.
Again, for the cheap seats. "Hype" isn't so much saying that whites are inferior athletes. Yes, I know Sam Jackson's character makes statements like this but again, this guy isn't the moral compass for the film either. It's not commenting so much on white athletes as it is showing that the mass public (i.e. white people) have a tendency to overlook talent in favor of skin tone. Peter Berg's character hasn't boxed in years and is built up around hype. The crowd would rather watch an overhyped white media creation fight the champ then a talented black challenger. Clearly, this point was completely lost on you.

If you're an American, born in America, why would you root against another American fighting a European? An Italian rooting for an Italian fighter is one thing, that's issue of nationality. If the guy comes from the same city and you relate to his story, that's fine. If he's from your country of origin, more power to you, but people from East Europe aren't cheering for Americans with West European roots so why should you relate to their fighters more than black and Hispanic fighters who were born in your country?
