This movie is a joke

They try to make him out to be some honorable, Michael Corleone clone, when in fact he was a ruthless, charmless monster who had no problem showing his true ugly self. (Watch the fabulous "Blowing Up Gotti" videos on The Smoking Gun, and see just how smooth he was; I bet Irv Gotti would change his moniker after hearing what old John had to say about blacks and latinos)

And isn't he the one who ordered the hit on John Favara? There's no evidence that Sammy the Bull had anything to do with it, and in fact, it was Victoria who instigated it because she was a nut too, just like her dingbat daughter. What they suffered at the loss of their son was nothing compared to the terror they wreaked upon Favara's family, especially his own son. Gotti and his whole worthless family deserve the acid bath that Favara's body was supposedly dissolved in. They are all a disgrace.

The film, meanwhile, is pure fiction.

Yes, Gotti was made to look better than he was. But, in my view, that made for a more enjoyable film.

You say the film was a "joke." What was funny about it?

What the *beep* are you talking about?? They showed him how he was. Whether you like the way he was or not that how he was and that's how people responded to him. People loved him, they were intrigued by him. That party when he got out and the neighborhood fireworks, that *beep* wasn't made up for the movie.

And did you really need this movie or any mob movie for that matter letting you know what a bad guy he was or any mob guy is for that matter??

The movie was very accurate in my opinion. Gotti was also very colorful and very popular. He was the most colorful, popular, and famous since Capone. And as shown in the movie, the people did love him. And also as shown in the movie, he really did give a homeless man a hundred dollar bill. The one scene I can think of that the OP has a legit grievance with is the way they portrayed the incident with him beating the truck driver. They made it like it only involved Gotti and that the trucker was the instigator with a bat. The true story is that the trucker got into it with Frank Colletta and Gotti came out of a bar and got involved. Gotti did hit the guy, but didn't beat the trucker like in the movie. Colleta was really the one that beat him up. But Gotti allegedly slapped him. In the movie, they have Gotti get into it with the guy and his friend being the one that shows up after it starts. And also, like I said, they made it like the trucker started it.

I agree with you. Gotti didn't speak as intelligible as how Armand Asante played him. Every other word out of his mouth was *beep* and he had a very short temper. If they wanted to portray him correctly, they would have thrown in how racist he was and dumbed down his vocabularly some more. Most of these guys never got past the eighth grade. I'd be surprised if Gotti knew what an idiot savant is.
