If Spike Lee dislikes Quentin Tarantino so much...

can someone explain how he ended up in his movie??? =\

reply

Because they didn't have their falling out until after this movie came out. Spike didn't dislike Quentin, he disliked the fact that Quentin is a white boy using the word *beep* [the n-word] so much in his scripts. It got worse once it went public, because people had their egos to defend.

hmmm....than I cant help but *smh* @ Spike for the simple fact that "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" were the main movies that had white people calling blacks n!ggers. It musta been the whole QT tellin him his movies were more popular with blacks than Spike's.

I know for a fact that Denzel Washington also has a major problem with QT and his use of the n-word.

I remember reading article in Premiere Magazine when the movie Crimson Tide came out with Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman...

QT was one of the ghost writers on the script and when Denzel and Gene came in to do a reading; QT was so in awe of Denzel that he wanted his autograph but before QT could open his mouth to ask for it Denzel blasted him about using the n-word so many times in his films. He(QT) was so embarrassed and he apologized so profusely; it was funny to read!!!!!

Quentin Tarantino has said that he grew up in a mostly all black neighborhood and thus a lot of his friends were black and his mom even dated a lot of black guys. According to him, thats a result of him "acting black" (as he claims to be accused of, and he responded with it being part of his personality). Samuel L. Jackson even described Quentin as a black dude in a white boy's body. He clearly has no issue with it so I don't know why Spike & Denzel are at war with him. In fact, Quentin clearly means no harm or insult by using the word, and I would think thats what should matter and Spike & Denzel should know this. However, whenever a white guy says the n-word it's never good, regardless of how innocent his intenions are, and this is something Quentin should know. I'm a huge fan of Quentin's though; almost everything he does is awesome.

And thats xactly the point. It doesnt matter how many black ppl QT or any other non black grew up around. No one else is allowed to say that word without being torn a new *beep* Its only something blacks are allowed to say to each other and thats it...

Oh get over yourself it's just a freaking word, both Denzel and Spike should keep their panties on, why not off and discuss the use of the word of documentaries or do something real instead of bitching about a word that was used in someone's freaking movies, which inherently is just there to represent the characters, not freaking racism, if we really start bitching like that, we could bitch about spike about the use of Italian people in them (Ben Hurst scene in 25th hour), it's just a word, it has a lot of history, but as intelligent thoughtful human beings you can just move on from such issues, about one race who cannot use that particular word, even though Taratino mostly uses it for satire in his movies.

In words words we should stop acting like honky ass *beep*

Jackie Brown uses the word a lot and was written by Tarantino so I can understand seeing a recurring grievance, not to mention that he went on to use it in the Death Proof screenplay a lot.

Assuming the animosity developed after this movie was produced, I have to wonder why Lee thinks it is fine for him to use the word "n!gger" but gets pissed if other filmmakers use it. Lee is a racist blowhard bag of sh!t.
