The real lions look less scary

So I have seen the Museum exhibit with the 2 man-eaters and I gotta say...maybe they were scary once, but they look like hell now

They have shrunken a ton.

Patterson trimmed the hides - the live lions were both over 9 feet long.

True! That's big in any one's language. I can understand though why the producers felt it necessary to add the manes, which the real life lions lacked.🐭

Bruno and Cesar, as living lions, had gorgeous black manes. It wasn't considered prudent to shave their makes at the time. Would YOU volunteer to do the honors?  Don't think I would do. But seriously, why would you want to do that? They were ACTORS!

All kidding aside, we know that Tsavo lions often lack manes. We also have learned that male lions that have been ousted from their pride will most their makes due to hormonal changes. We don't know the reasons, we only know that it occurs.

As a scientist I have Always wondered if these Two lions were brothers ousted from their pride by new rivals. A DNA test would solve this mystery today.

And remember they spent 20 years as Patterson's rugs before being sold to the Field Museum.

I guess you just didn't look into their eyes, BladedHunter.

Fewer. Fewer scary.

Brienne: "Any last words?"
Stannis: "The siege begins at sunrise."

They look scary to me.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

reply

Patterson made them into rugs before realizing that maybe they'd look better stuffed. The attempt to fix the damage was less than perfect.

And THAT is where babies come from.
