Funniest scene...
When the characters stop in Memphis and everyone is a racist.
Has Spike Lee ever BEEN to Memphis?!?!

I don't think it seemed like everyone was racist in that scene. No more than the average white person already is racist anyway.
shareWhen Wendell got throwned off the Bus for talking sh!t.
I buried those cockaroaches Tony Montana (Scarface)
The idea of one exclusive african american leader is funny.
It's the same sort of response, I get when I hear, as a wheelchair user.
"Are you people allowed out at night?
I am a college professor, and doctoral canidate, and am treated like an idiot.
Nobody was outwardly prejudice. It was just in a place where blacks were not commonly travelling through. Im sure there were a few "good ole boys" at the bar who would have rather they stay on the bus and keep driving through.
shareI take it from your post that you're from Memphis. No offense intended, but I find it completely plausible that a white cop in a southern state would see a bus load of black people and assume there were drugs on board. If this scene offended you, I'm sorry, but it totally worked for me.

There were many bits of dialogue which made me laugh. Just some examples:
"Hey Wendell, I got a joke for you: What do they call a black man with a Lexus dealership?"
- "What?"
"N*gga."
"Did you just hear that? He said, you can't admit that you love me...to him."
- "So?"
"We got fagg*ts on the bus!"
[Not sure about the exact quote but this one had me really cracking up...just the way he said it was priceless.]
"He had a white mother."
-"Now what's that supposed to mean?"
"Whoa, nothing personal, man. Just stating a fact. Our mothers whoop ass. Your mother lectures. Why you getting so upset?"
[Also not sure bout exact quote, but nonetheless great]
When Hannibal crossed the Alps...
-Who's Hannibal?
-Who's Alps?
LOL
I think the funniest scene is when smooth does the interview saying why he didn't want to attend the march. The honesty had me rollin'.
If you do the crime, your balls are on the line!
LOL
I was on the floor when "Smoove" said, "MAN, I DON'T EVEN WANNA GO TA DIS MUG"...yes, his whole interview scene had me rolling.
Also, when he said "GREAT DAD, WE ON THE BUS WITH A BUNCH A HOMOS"
So many funny scenes.

What was so funny about that? Smooth's dad was just trying to tell the man that he wanted his son to go to the March because it might change him. Please go back to the Hill Harper board, so you can s)ck on his d)ck some more like you have been doing.
Keep your friends close keep your enemies closer
You sure are fascinated by Hill Harper buddy....maybe it's you who wants to suck his d*** No maybe about it.
OH and by the way, the scene was funny to me for the same reason it was funny to most people. Get a life and a girlfriend..excuse me, boyfriend.

sharei cried, when they read jerimah's prayer
shareI hear you Harry. I am from Memphis is this scene bothered me too. For all you people who didn't know; Memphis is roughly 65 percent BLACK!! Per capita it has one of the highest concentrations of blacks than any city in the US. The white people at the restaurant would probably already have known about the march and definitely wouldn't have been so shocked to see a large group of blacks at one time. In fact that would be normal for them.
Its funny almost how perceptions are outside of the south about southern cities. Memphis/Atlanta/Birmingham/NO/etc while during the 60's were the most racists places, they have definitely been transformed. Today I would argue that there are more race related issues in cities like Boston (harvard professor incident), NY (Diallo anyone??) and California (transit police shooting). Not saying that there are not any race problems in the south but being that the fight for civil rights took place in the south, newer generations are not willing to relive any of the violence or struggles that occurred and are forced to deal with each other from the beginning. I've lived in Chicago and Wash DC, visited LA/NY many times and now live in Texas. Trust me when I say that as a 30 somthing black man, I'm WAY more comfortable living amongst Memphis whites.
A more likely scenario would've been the guys stopping in Memphis to eat and they get jacked by a gang of fellow brothers.. Not proud of that, just being real.
FWIW the police stop occurred in Knoxville, which is a world (makeup and mileage) away from Memphis ;)
"whats the same with the million man march and lesbians" i thought that was pretty funny.
shareEverything that came our of Wendall Pierce's mouth was hillarious. And if you wanna talk about somebody racist, it was Randy Quad as that cop who invades the bus. Telling a fellow officer of the law to sit down, basically saying "it doesn't matter that your a L.A.P.D, your still a *beep* sit down". I know he didn't say those words, but thtat's what he meant.
shareI was also uncomfortable with that scene. I thought brothers (of the law) would have some kind of common bond. Not in this case and this was 1995. I was so relieved there wasn't any drugs on the bus.
