near dark is garbage.
its like a rednck version of twilight set in the 80s, you guys are insane

reply

Near Dark garbage?
Are you serious?
That's by far the best vampire movie.

reply

near dark is trashy and it barely counts as a vampire movie. Yes, they are Obviously vampires.... but their lifestyle and the entire movie is more like if they were just regular serial killers.
and, obviously i am not saying every single vampire in movies needs to look and act like Lestat, that would be dumb. Variety in vampires is good, makes things interesting.
but Near Dark... when I was done I felt like I saw some kind of weird sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre or something. That's what I mean. the movie barely feels like it is a vampire movie.

how is it the best? it doesn't even have some of the most famous vampire characteristics nor it had any of that flavor vampire movies have. (Again, I am not saying every movie needs to be like Interview of the Vampire of Dracula... no of course not)

even something as crappy as 30 days of night ( I say crappy because a lot of people hate it, I liked it) was a better VAMPIRE movie then Near Dark.

near dark is not even a bad movie, it is just NOT a good movie about vampires

reply

a little ot but still a funny thought. imagine how bad Seth Gecko would kill Twilight vampires

Rob Zombie is one of the greatest directors today

reply

Ha ha, I have no idea but I'd like to see that movie.

reply

I prefer The Lost Boys over Interview with a Vampire.

Some hurt, some love, some shout. I fought the world and I lost that bout. ~ Blue October

reply

Lost Boys is best Vampire movie ever. Dusk til Dawn is second.

reply

Fright Night is no slouch! Neither is the Blade trilogy. The Lost Boys, Near Dark, John Carpenter's Vampires are all decent, as in Interview With A Vampire.

reply

I've seen a lot of vampire films and I am a HUGEEE fan of From Dusk Till Dawn I think it's the second best vampire film but I'd have to give number one to John Carpenter's Vampires... I thought that was brilliant especially James Woods

reply

Yeah, you know what? John Carpenters Vampires was brilliant. I read somewhere, sometime in another life that John Carpenters films age like a fine wine. And I've always believed that. Vampires is amazing and is ultimately my favourite vampire film.

reply

lol i was just coming in here to write the same thing. John Carpenters Vampires is my favourite. Second place is a triple tie between From dusk till dawn, The Lost Boys and 30 days of Night. A very underrated vampire movie that most ppl probably haven't seen is the 1996 Universal Pictures vampire movie called "Tales from the Crypt:Bordello of Blood" ...check it out

reply

Would you really call these things vampires? They looked more like some kind of monsters but vamps?Definitely not in my eyes!

reply

Martin (76)
Horror of Dracula (58)
Near Dark (87)
Dusk Till Dawn

Yeah, Interview with the Vampire (1994) is clearly the most memorable vampire themed movie out there as nothing else is even close to it.

If you want to see an interesting twist on vampires watch the indie flick Habit directed by and starring Larry Fessenden.

Salem's Lot(1979)kicks all their asses; no one compares to Barlow.

it's way better than this overrated slop

Have you ever seen Let the right one in ?

reply

That's definitely up there. No one mentioned Vamp, Fright Night, or Blade. C'mon people!

reply

Once Bitten, too!

reply

My favs are

1. Dracula (classic Universal...its the vampire trendsetter man!!!)
2. Fright Night (must've seen 2 dozen times)
3. From Dusk Till Dawn...though I might be forgetting 1 or 2 that could tie FDTD
