Bad looking good, and good looking bad

When I first saw "Freeway," it was on late-nite cable, and I was about 20-30 minutes in when I started watching. Because of that, I missed the initial exposition of the main characters (Vanessa and Wolverton).
I spent most of the movie thinking of what a horrible, horrible girl Vanessa was, with the way she laughed at that poor guy Wolverton's grievous injuries, and hurled vicious racial epithets at the black detective. So when the cops discovered that Wolverton was a sexual predator and a murderer, it was a complete revelation for me, and my feelings toward Vanessa suddenly reversed.
When I saw it the second time, I watched the whole movie, and the payoff felt much less rewarding
