Mother didn't care, she beat the child

When Jody's mother's lawyer said Jody didn't care and she beat Zack, that was a lie because Jody didn't beat Zack. She just spanked him because he made a mess in Jody and Maggie's kitchen.

Of course it was a lie. But Nancy couldn't tell what Jody was doing to Zack. She heard Jody angrily fussing at Zack and heard Zack crying, so she made it out to be more than it was. Then, it didn't help when Maggie didn't get Jody back on the phone with her mother.

Linda Voorhees did a great job on the screenplay. You couldn't help but see both sides of the argument, even if you only agreed with one. Not to mention the duality of the title. It wasn't just two mothers (Jody and Maggie) for Zachary. It was also Jody and/or Nancy. Remember the final scene when Jody takes him to her mom's house to drop him off? He says, "Hi momma" to Nancy as he takes her hand and then "Bye momma" to Jody as he lets go of hers.
