What the heck was up with that woman's opera scream??

I could never understand why that one woman in the beginning at the party screamed like an opera singer. I'm thinking that maybe she had gone to some finishing school as a kid and was told that screaming like an opera singer was the proper way to scream. Or maybe she was an opera singer and if she screamed any other way, it'd hurt her voice or something.

Anyone else know??
