Liked it, as I do all the Broomfields I've seen, but certainly not amongst his best. For me the subject just wasn't enough to make it a classic, but because I knew little of that world it was still interesting. It seems to be about power more than sex and I'm not sure Broomfield got into that enough, there was perhaps room for expansion there. The high-powered businessman who loved to be dominated seemed to encapsulate the service the place provides.

It was alright, I've seen better documentaries I've seen worse documentaries. I found it both fascinating and intriguing yet somewhat uncomfortable in some instances. Not a documentary I'd watch again, but certainly not one I regret seeing.

Human sexuality has always interested me though, and this film provided a lot of insight I might not already have. It was informative and interesting, but lacked a lot of what makes a truly great documentary.

Overall I give it a 7/10.

Last film seen: The Man With the Movie Camera 9/10

It was hot and sexy and very provocative. Maybe that's because I am into this kind of activity! Lol ...

Little late in replying but better late then never. I have to say that I was very disappointed with this, I have enjoyed most of the directors other films but I his view of the lifestyle was a little to focused on the aspect of the females being in the dominant role and largely ignored or glossed over other forms of BDSM relationships . Speaking as someone in the lifestyle I would have liked him to explore other aspects of BDSM in greater depth. It wasn't a bad film but for me it came off a bit one sided.

Mixed emotions. I found most of the fem-doms to be pretty messed up. I think the owner summed it up when she said she got totally burnt out. None of the fem-doms had a working relationship, and I think it underlies the fact that while they may or may not be providing a needed "service" to their clients, psychologically, they're pretty messed up themselves.

It was a good documentary, as are all the films I've seen by Nick Broomfield. What a b***h Mistress Raven was! Why agree to the film if you're going to roll your eyes and be patronising?

reply

Probably because Broomfield was an obnoxious prick.

Terrible documentary.

Slightly disappointing. Interesting but seemed like a missed opportunity to delve deeper into subjects' psychology. Not deep enough for my liking. Just a montage of weird fetish scenarios. That said, I do like his gonzo style of film making. He's a poor man's Louis Theroux!
