Regardless of the fact that so many people seem to dislike this movie, I really enjoy it and how unconventional it is. I'm a big fan of Tilda Swinton and I think her performance in it is great. So I'd really like to own it...but can anyone tell me why the hell the dvd is so expensive? Like 80 bucks on Amazon.com!

The UK release is pretty much bargain basement price now (about 1/6 the price of a normal new release) ... but whether it's actually in stock and available is another matter and I can't help there, sorry.
I work at a preowned DVD store and sold a copy for $5. I had seen that it was listed at a high price on Amazon.com, but didn't mind letting it go cheap, as I saw that it really wasn't going for TOO much on ebay.
You'll be able to find it cheap somewhere. And I've no doubt that it'll be printed again soon enough. THe film's current owner will do a reprint with a big picture of Marcia Cross on the front, despite her bit part, just like they do with Jack Nicholson and the original Little Shop of Horrors. DVDs of older, less successful films just ride waves of celebrity discovery.
Bottom line: Amazon always misrepresents values and people mark things up for 'collector's value'. Just wait a while, and a cheap copy will pop up. Start looking at local used movie stores, if you have them.

it was a really sh#$tty pressing in one of those cheap plastic cases, and there is no way it was worth $80..except that it is a great film. i bought my copy in the bargain bin at tower i think.

the reason the dvd is so expensive is because it never came out in region 1 (US). i have no idea why there are some available on amazon, but the 80 bucks is for the rareness of the US release (which i still don't think exists...what's up, amazon?).
all the ones you find on ebay and other online stores for a reasonable price are region 2 dvds, which you can't watch in the states unless you have a region 2 or all-region/regionless dvd player.
HOWEVER, i just bought a region 2 dvd of perversions from someone on ebay with the intention of eventually buying a regionless dvd player, and i plopped it into my dvd player just for *beep* and giggles, and it WORKED. for a moment i thought my player was actually regionless, but when i tried another region 2 dvd, my luck did not repeat itself.
in conclusion, i think that the version of perversions that was sold to me is actually region 1, which totally negates my first statement. or it's some sort of fluke. i'm not sure, but i'm not going to question it any further because i'm just happy to finally own this movie on dvd!

It had to have been no more than 25 USD
I know that if its not in print its going to be higher price
But, 80 USD is too high a price for the movie
This is now available under $20 at www.RLDVDs.com. They sell lots of hard to find stuff and its all factory sealed. They specialize in films that have footage similar to Marcia Cross' scenes in this one.
