Why did that woman throw away her lipstick after observing that she had the same color?
"You punched the highlights out of her hair! He punched the highlights out of her hair!"

I puzzled over that moment, too. I got the feeling that Eve is an Alpha-type, and couldn't stand to be equaled, even if it was just a tube of lipstick.
I loved this film, but I couldn't tell you why....so many scenes just broke my
heart. It seems very real, somewhere in the World, at any time....

Ed & Eve made me cry at the end. That scene just did me in.
Very intense film.

Eve is extremely competitive, and rather narcissist. So, she wouldn't even want to have the same lipstick as anyone else. It would diminish her self-perceived uniqueness and allure.

Exactly. It was "her" lipstick, "her" talisman of power. The fact that her colleague/ rival was wearing it took away some of her power.
