I think CAPE Fear (original) was Better on the Same Theme

I don't think I could call this movie a rip-off, but maybe a riff on the same theme.

The original Cape Fear, with Gregory Peck was much better. It had better moral choices, esp. by the father.

The climax was better too.

This one wasn't bad, but it made me want to see the Peck/Mitchum conflict again. Epic!

It also made me want to go back and watch Wm. Peterson shine in "Manhunter."
