I'd heartily recommend that you add 'The Secret Life of Bees' to this list. It's compelling, addresses, in an abstract way, similar emotion, and certainly compels reflection.

I'd also encourage the addition of the film 'Avanti.' It's another film that encompasses revelation, self-examination, and acceptance.

I love both of these films for different reasons. Nevertheless, of this genre, they both rate extremely high. Avanti didn't score well on its initial release, but this is due to the subject matter and particularly the demographic of who was canvassed; ultimately women.

I'm guessing most viewers will have seen The Secret Life of Bees. However, if you've not seen Avanti I strongly encourage you to locate a copy. Jack Lemmon is at his finest! Add the touching music, the perfect cast of actors; all glued together by the artistry of Billy Wilder and you have a timelessly unforgettable little gem!
