Ending.

I fell asleep before the end of this! :( Last parts I really saw was when Shawnee Smith's character was going to report her to the dean (after finding out her identity). Can anyone tell me what happened?

This movie reminded me a lot of 'Teacher's Pet' and 'American Psycho 2'.

You need to get out more. It was one of the most ridiculous movies I have ever seen. I could see how it could appeal to a 13 year old though.

While I'll admit that I watch this movie every time it's on Lifetime, there are so many ridiculous, that-would-never-happen parts. To name one: When she meets Brianne at the airport, they announce the flight is boarding before Brianne goes to the bathroom. But Tracey Gold manages to kill her, empty the contents of her suitcase into the trash, expertly cram her body into the suitcase (!) and STILL make the flight?! Oh, and nobody else stops by the restroom the entire time she's toiling away in there?
Oh, and no college leaves office doors unlocked in the middle of the night for potential murderers/eyeball destroyers!

Here are a few more:

*[Beginning sequence] Cats who are stalking prey do NOT meow like that--why would they make noise? They're trying to sneak up on their prey, not scare it off! As well, there's no way a bird would be that chirpy and carefree when a cat is that close--it would've flown off immediately.

*I assume this movie takes place in the fall, as it's the beginning of the term and they're going through orientation. New Hampshire is NOT that cold in September, they're all wearing way too many coats and hats. NH is actually quite warm and lovely, except perhaps in the early morning, at that time of year.

*During the orientation sequence, Tracey, Shawnee and a group of other students are being taken on a tour through the campus and they pass a construction site (this is when Tracey's character hears about the arts studios and decides to stay). You can hear construction workers cat-calling to the students in the background--I went to two private women's colleges and there is no way in h*ll any construction worker who wanted to keep his job would pull that. Harrassing students at an expensive, high-end college like that? They would be fired in an instant.

*Someone with manners as impeccable as Shawnee Smith's character's would never be that condescending to the butler (especially making inappropriate jokes about "castrating" him). It's the only time they show her acting that way, and I know she's supposed to be relaxing and joking around with her friends but that struck a very odd note with me. The equivalent would be if a wealthy son of the family were joking to a maid about r*ping her--I just don't see Smith's character making that insensitive a joke.

*This is a weird one but I'm pretty sure that there are no direct flights from Chicago to New Hampshire--Brianne (and later Tracey's character) would have to be routed through Boston first. Manchester Airport, her destination, is not that big or busy and there would be little commercial need for a direct flight from Chicago which is a huge hub.

*Quinn says in the beginning that he got the money from his mother, so why does he tell Tracey's character later that he still owes money on the jewelry that he bought for her?

*The ending, as many have said, is completely implausible, the way they make it seem that "as long as there's no hard evidence against you" she'll get off. People get convicted on circumstantial evidence *all the time.* She assumed the identities of several dead girls and kept up the deception with Brianne's mother--there's the motive. She tried to kill Shawnee, so there's a pattern of physical violence. Eventually they're going to discover that Quinn is dead too, and there's another link. Likewise the detective's behavior toward Tracey's character is ridiculously naive (NO cop would ever give advice in response to a perp saying "can you help me?", they would never want to get caught up in a situation like that), and it seems unlikely there wouldn't be another officer in the car.

That said--I gotta say, I like this movie. The performances are all great (Shawnee Smith is especially terrific), the scenery is gorgeous and it's just fun watching Tracey try to figure out solutions to the messes she's made. She overacts a little bit toward the end but she *is* playing a loony. The whole movie is basically a guilty pleasure.

I agree with you on most of your points. I used to live in NH and I was thinking the same thing about the coats. There is no way it would be that cold and dreary in early September. However, there are direct flights from Chicago to Manchester. Now, during the time the movie was filmed (95/96) it might have been a different story. Afterall, MHT was a lot smaller back then. But as of 2009 I know that they did run nonstop flights from those two places bc my dad did it.

Really! Interesting, I never would've thought that--I also used to live in NH and my dad is a (retired) commercial pilot--only rarely did we ever go through Manchester for anything, we always just schlepped down to Logan. I guess Manchester is growing.
