Why did she do it?

Why did Darcy kept killing many of her victims as well as stealing their identities? Was she trying to run and hide from her family? Or was she just simply crazy? What was the purpose of her doing these things?

Thanks...

She had a sick mean streak. I watched this yesterday and it's on again right now. Part of it was for money and survival and part was she enjoyed it.

I like the actors in this movie. But it gets a bit unrealistic how the father falls for her. It's like he has no sense at all. Also, the dean could have put two and two together when Brie's mom showed up and mentioned how Brie had already talked to a school counselor. The same counselor with the horrible eye drop scene. It should have seemed suspicious enough to call the authorities.

But thankfully, it's fiction!!

I just watched this today, and yes, I don't think the movie did a good job giving her a motive for killing at least two people. I think they could've probably eliminated a couple scenes and done some flashbacks. Killing Brianne seemed a little over-the-top if she just needed a way to New York. If she was just a con artist, it would be different, but they made the character a killer.

Gus:I have never been so motivated to make money
Burt: Smoke on that, jerk.

She's clearly mentally ill. Her motive seemed to me as she didn't like her life so she was going to live other people's lives. At the end of the movie she tells her roommate "I was almost you." She'd live someone else's life and once it didn't work out she'd assume someone else's identity.
