This movie is AWFULLLL!!!

This movie is so EXAGGERATED...it's a waste of time.
Wealthy people, bratty kid, inept lawyer, goofy police, and an absolutely vile bad guy who dumps coffee on stray dogs.
Give me a BREAK!
I'll never get those minutes back...argggh.

Yeah, it is sad that a good actress like Sally Field would do a film like this. And the fact that the director was John Schlessinger, who has made some great films! It is amazing that this came out just after Dead Man Walking, which puts this crap to shame.

What does Dead Man Walking have to do with this movie! It sounds like you're suggesting John Schlesinger directed both, but he didn't. Tim Robbins directed Dead Man Walking.

That's supposed to be a ? instead of a ! but I can't edit posts on my phone.

Disagree!

AGREED. The existence of this film is an abomination's abomination.

This is probably my favourite role of Sally's and her acting is so real in it that it's shocking, Kiefer Sutherland plays the most sick, f'd up bad guy in this movie, it has so much suspense and it's into it from the start, try bringing up some proper arguments for this movie, rather than just "Agreed" or the nonsense written by the OP.

You may like it but that doesn't mean that everyone else has to.
I saw this movie for the first time last night on one of the digital channels.
I said to myself, "Wow! Sally Field? Ed Harris? Kiefer Sutherland? I have to check this out! Why haven't I ever heard of this movie?"
I got my answer after seeing it. I had to check my guide to make sure I wasn't tuned in to the Lifetime channel. It's the sort of predictable overly contrived drivel you can find there.
You enjoyed it. Fine. I didn't. Different strokes for different folks.

It's going to be a bumpy night!"

I agree - this movie is soooooo over the top from beginning to end.

It is a movie about every parents worst nightmares, their child raped, beaten and murdered and worst to hear the whole thing even hearing them calling for you but there is nothing you can do even when the system fails you on a technicality. How do you "just let it go and move on"? I loved this movie, it got my grateful for my family.

I didn't see much to like in it. Sutherland's character was a cartoonish villain. No backstory, no motivation, not even mental illness.

I know Joe Mantegna can do better. His cop was so wimpy in this.

I like Ed Harris and Sally field, too. In this, naah. And the girls who played Megan and Julie. I hope they did better later in their careers. I think both are still acting.

Much of the dialog sounded poorly looped, too, especially Megan.
