The role of a lifetime.

As much as I love Madonna, I will admit that she is certainly not a great actress. She's turned in a few decent performances and some sucky ones, but the role of Eva Peron was made for her. She was amazing! The Golden Globe peop's obviously agreed with me. No more to say.
O/T Amusingly, her worst performance was in Swept Away. Sad when a man can't even get a decent performance out of his own wife. Ritchie is sadly over-rated. He got tens of millions of dollars from their divorce. Though, I consider him a bit of a pussy for taking money from a woman, he obviously faired well from the marriage (at least financially).

Tried to care. Couldn't do it.

Agreed. I can't imagine anyone else doing a better job in this role. Admittedly, she's not very good in most movies but she's really magnificent in this one.

She sang well enough, but her acting was not good. But a marginally talented actress with a genius for self promotion.
Sounds like Madonna to me.(LOL)

And she's blonde, as was Evita. I always wondered why others in the role were not, or not made so. It seems to me to be a key part of her appearance, and perhaps her marianismo appeal.

What do you mean, susanemccool? Esther Goris (in Eva Peron: The True Story), Julieta Díaz (in (Juan Y Eva), Faye Dunaway (in Evita Peron) were all blonde. Even the stage Evitas have worn a blonde wig. They've only portrayed Evita as brunette early on 'cause Eva Peron was naturally brown-haired. It wasn't until she became an actress that she began to dye her hair and kept it blonde for the rest of her life.
