Worst Viewaskew Production!

Who else thinks this is the worst Viewaskew production? All Smith's films are great, Vulgar is great and A Better Place is exceptional. But Drawing Flies is bad but fans should still check it out. Who agrees?

The thing is, it's not made by Kevin Smith. It's Smith and Mosier producing films by their friends to get them started, as you'll notice in Vulgar, A Better Place, Drawing Flies and even Big Helium Dog are not like Kevin Smith films. People are always comparing it to Mallrats or Dogma or something, when it's like comparing Braveheart which Mel Gibson directed and starred in, to some film Mel Gibson was just in that he didn't make. The indie flicks made by Kevin Smith's friends aren't suppossed to be part of the "Askewniverse". There'y completely seperate films having nothing to do with Smith's films only with his credit and sometimes appearences in the film because he's just helping out his friends who also wanted to get into filmmaking.

As for what I think of Drawing Flies, I actually liked it because I generally like dark indie films. I'd take Eraserhead over Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back anyways (although not saying I don't the latter film). It just depends on what kind of films you like watching, and weird movies about a guy going crazy and searching for Bigfoot is the kind of thing I'd rather watch then Austin Powers or something. Although I don't like how they show the bigfoots which look dumb, and it should have left you wondering what happened to Donner (Lee's character). Although who knows, maybe it's all in his head at the end or something since god knows I've seen plenty of films where stuff is always misinterpreted and then the director has to go on and on how it's in his head, it's not real, and to wake up and be able to watch a film where everything isn't always spelled out for you (see Vampire's Kiss or Christmas Evil DVDs, the latter for a commentary & interviews where the director immediately busts into angered rants about trying to knock sense into the viewers that half the film is in his head cause he's crazy. I mean he really seemed pissed nobody understood that film).

I've never seen Big Helium Dog, but out of the other 3 produced by Smith, A Better Place is definately my favorite, probably followed by Drawing Flies, then Vulgar. The only thing that kinda killed it for me in Vulgar was from going fom extremely dark to a basic comedy...then extremely dark again. Although even the trailer pimps it like it's a comedy. Hate to see the look on someone's face when they rent it expecting a comedy after seeing the trailer on another movie, and seeing the rape scene. And props to Brian O'Halleron for the scene where he comes home from the rape, as that was seriously some of the best acting I've seen in a while. I may never get sick of him wigging out and smashing the mirror screaming.

Are you honestly comparing this piece of crap to Eraserhead?

Eraserhead is groundbreaking. It's an exceptional piece of cinema. This is badly written, badly acted, badly directed horse manure. I mean, the plot sounds OKAY, on paper, but it's just so poorly executed.

Comparing, err, more just sayin that I like oddball indie films. Eraserhead is a MILLION times better then Drawing Flies could EVER hope to be, lol. Plus, David Lynch seems to be doing quite a bit better then (whoever directed this, Malcolm something) career wise.

i'm still REALLY REALLY confused about what the *beep* i just watched... can someone explain it to me >>!>!?!??!?!?!

I like showing the Sasquatches at the end. I don't think they were real, though. I think it was just in his mind.
