HOLY CRAP

wow i never even heard of this till now. if u can explain to me what it is and why no one has ever heard of it?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I found it by searching for "Jason Lee" movies so I could update my queue on my blockbuster online account. Oh well. I put it on my queue, but I'm not in any hurry to see it after some of the responses towards it I've read on here. Don't worry though, I'll decide for myself whether or not it's any good.

Have you seen it Pappa-Joe-Steffa?

Well shoot man, maybe your local blockbuster has it. I never imagined that the blockbuster online thing would, so who knows, the store might.

I found this buried under concert dvds at a record store in the middle of nowhere, "known as the lost viewaskew film" more or less sums it up. It's a bad flick, but a hardcore smith fan will enjoy it for the commentary in which Kevin holds the floor (while only making a brief cameo in the actual flick). By the looks of it, they had a great time shooting it, reminds me of getting drunk in Vancouver. Jason Lee's ok, and Mosier wears a diaper, but for the most part I can't imagine spending 40'000 bucks on a flick with almost no jokes in it. A worthy addition to any home askewuniverse but unless you've watched the commentary's on mallrats and chasing amy as many times as the pictures themselves then this is probably a inconvenient waste of money. (But necessary in order to complete the set, and therfore prove your unflinching adoration for lord Smith....can someone please tell me why I like this guy so much? damn, I keep giving him my money....)

reply

If nothing else the movie shows Jason Lee can actually act.

well to be fair this is only a PRODUCED film. Kevin Smith did a cameo and I think produced. So you can't say "oh Kevin Smith did a BAD JOB". This was just produced, actually just between Mallrats and Chasing Amy.

It's a low budget flick about people going out in the woods looking for big foot. And one of several that View Askew produced around that time including "Tail Lights Fade", "Vulgar" and "Big Helium Dog". Its not a great flick but interesting to see some of the Mallrats cast reunited in different roles.

The interesting thing is.. wasn't this kind of shot hand held ala Blair Witch the film with credited starting the whole found footage while this film pre-dates that one by a good three years.

unless you were with the VA films from the beginning, circa Mallrats. It's not unlikely you'd never heard of this film. It was produced by View Askew, Kevin Smith didn't write or direct. He produced several films that friends did including this one. look up Tail Lights Fade with Breckin Mayer (who was Universal's first choice to replace Jay in Mallrats), Jake Busey and Denise Richards.. or Vulgar which tells the story of the transsexual party clown that the company used as its logo mascot.

Lol. I had never heard of this movie til today myself. I was at frys (an electronic store) browsing their DVDs and came across this. I was shocked cause I'm a huge Kevin smith/view askew fan. Picked it up for three bucks. Even if it sucks I'm only out a few bucks.
