Funniest Scene
For me, it's the "Louie Louie" sonar confusion tactic. What do you think?
shareI know it's crude and juvenile humor, but I love the fart scene. From being called an explosion to the looks on the crews' faces, it gets me every time.
shareThe crews reaction to the smell, especially Kelsey Grammer's, is belly laugh funny.
One underrated maybe even unnoticed scene was when Lauren Holley's character, after Capt. Tom Dodge is toweling off in his cabin after getting Lt. Lake to take over so as to "drive" between the Props of the tanker, she kissed the Captain and then realized it was inappropriate and then saluted the Captain but when she brought her arm down from the salute she banged it against the door sill/light switch/round conduit junction"?" she follows through with the scene as though nothing happened. I have had to point it out to others and replay the scene before they see her whacking her elbow/upper arm pretty darn good. Must have hurt!
Farts are almost always funny, especially when they are the most inappropriate and unexpected. I think that scene was done well, too.

I'm just expressing my opinion.
You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas.
Absolutely the fart....And the reactions to it...
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man....

When Dodge goes into Lake's quarters to try to make her feel better about the ocean floor landing, and then when he opens the hatch the enrite crew is right there, just outside, and Stepanek asks "Polishing the old torpedo, sir?" That scene almost made me choke on my beer.
shareI don't know about funniest scene, but my favorite moment is when Jackson sings the army theme song thinking it's the navy's.

For me the one of the funniest is the crew intro scene.

There are so many little things that Kelsey Grammer does.
During his walk up he goes so casually "Nice pants. Lose the cigar. Oh you better burn that shirt sailor" and then says to himself "it's the crew from hell".
Asking Pascal "you come with a volume control Pascal?"
"Ah, I see our chaplain has arrived" when the MP's are escorting Stepanak onto the dock.
After Stepanak makes his "sit on it and rotate" comment Pascal goes off. Dodge goes "Pascal, down down, heel" like he's a barking dog.
I like most of the scenes with Stepanak because his expressions were pretty damn funny. When Pascal asks the crew for support in his attempted mutiny, Stepanak's reaction is great as well as when he brushes past Pascal and knocks him over and smiles as he walks by. Also, the end scene with the "non salute" was great... he was a good character, in my opinion.
shareWhen Dodge says he's going to use a bizarre and risky strategy to evade the Orlando, and asks anyone to speak up if they think it's not worth it, Spots replies, "Actually sir, I think we should GO with bizarre and risky. It's been going great so far!"
sharemy 2 favourite scenes were the fart scene and the one where the sonar guy impersonates whale calls
