Sickening!!

How could his family believe he was innocent?? Unbelievable. It's disgusting to watch him joke around with his son/stepson! There was so much evidence against this guy.

On another note, Joe Penny does a good job of playing murderers who are really stupid. In the Disappearance of Vonnie, he kills his wife, played by Ann Jillian...he was REALLY stupid in that movie. I think he might have been a cop in that one, too.

Kim Zimmer from the soap Guiding Light played his wife in Disappearence of Vonnie. Ann Jillian played the sister-in-law (Vonnie's sister) that fought to get him convicted.

You're right. Thanks for that correction. :)

I thought the entire film was sickening. The characters did such stupid things! Julia didn't even try to hide the fact she was gaga over this guy, making big puppy eyes at him. It was sickening.
Then both of them are SO stupid and don't use a condom.....then he treats her like dirt and she runs after him anyway! She never stood up for herself.
The family was dumb too, they never got mad at Julia for being so dumb, or seemed concerned with who the kid's father was! If I was the dad, I would have at least confronted Johnny.
The mother even encouraged her to GO BACK TO HIM!
Julia was 'off' mentally too, you could tell. Both were obsessed with each other.

Then of course he threatens her, very specifically, and of course she does exactly what he warned her about! Right under his nose too. That's no excuse for murder, of course.
But as another poster said, it was hard to like and feel sorry for Julia because she does so many stupid things.

It's so sad to read posts like this. I suppose no one on this board has ever done stupid things when they were young. I look back on my younger years and think, "What was I thinking?" But trust me, based on life experiences with those around me, many people never wise up. At least her family loved her unconditionally and were supportive of her. Many young girls don't have that.

Then- a place in time.
Than- preference between one or the other.

reply

Of course everyone has done stupid things.
But Julia did one stupid thing after another...after another after another.

Don't forget she didn't even get any smarter as she got older, she got worse!

She has no backbone whatsover here. Johnny knew it.

And to boot, she never seemed to do anything wrong in the eyes of her parents either!

I couldn't believe how everyone, from Johnny to Julia to her parents, acted here.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.

That's life. People don't act the way you think they should. Many people are not self aware. It's everywhere. Families condition one another to think a certain way. Obviously no one in that family were taught to look at things differently.

reply

No need to be condescending. believe me, I'm very well aware that people act all sorts of ways.
But the characters here seemed constantly surprised by the outcomes of their choices.
And you're not born self-aware or to think differently. YOU teach YOURSELF that.
And learn as you get older.

Those that don't....well sadly this film showed what happened when everyone repeatedly makes bad choices.
