Lost,Stollen,MIA Control Consol Set

The Control Room set for the TARDIS, that lovely steam-punk goodness, was it ever found? reports that I've been able to dig up state that it went missing from the fold and hold storage rooms of the studio.

it was a wonderful set and can't see who it simply up and vanished from a prop masters' warehouse.

wouldn't the BBC of been pissed about this. has it ever been recovered or is it simply being written off as lost for good.

I don't know about those reports of it going missing, but I know that it is currently in the hands of a private collector. minus the central column.

Thank you for your reply, I've been looking for any information on this.

the reports I recall said that it vanished from the fold and hold storage with allegations that a security guard being the lead suspect , So if it's in a Private Collection, then that makes me feel better that this bit of Doctor Who History is not lost is joyful news. as for the Center Column, are we talking about the control unit it self or the time rotter, or the whole unit ( control unit, Time rotter and the arches )

It's actually only the central console that exists. I don't know about the rest of the set, but the central console is currently in the posession of someone who worked on the movie (I think), only without the time rotor.

And here's a link to the relevant post on the Livejournal DW Cosplay community.

Oh, and it turns out that it currently belongs to someone who got it off of someone who worked on the movie.

Lucky bugger.

I was not overly keen on it when I first saw the story, but since the new series began, I have gradually began to like it more and more. Particularly in comparison to the Matt Smith… "control console".

And I use that phrase loosely and with some reservation.

The central console was actually the subject of a recent episode of "Shipping Wars". It was shipped alongside a replica of the bridge for the TNG Enterprise.
