Pretty good.

If I hadn't seen the original French film years ago, I would've been surprised by the ending. Even so, I was a bit surprised, since I didn't clearly remember the original.

It's not done as well as it could've been, I suppose. But it's still a pretty good crime thriller. The premise is still good, the writing good. The acting good. Notice I say everything is good, not "great."

A very enjoyable watch. Kathy Bates' character could've, and should've, had a bigger role.

The review on the main page here on imdb says that the original version had no corresponding character to the Bates' detective character. But I seem to recall a detective at the end of the original, suspecting but not being able to prove anything. It's a little bit of a different twist at the end, the American version, but still, both had detectives, I thought.

Adjani is just beautiful. Stone is, too, but I find her short hair look a bit strong.
