One of the best movies ever made

Serious, but I also wanted to balance out the oppositely titled thread on the forum. This film is on my list of top 5 favorite films ever, and it's the only film on IMDb I've ever seen to truly get the "wrong" rating from the populist rating system. It deserves a 7 to 8 star rating; it is certainly more artful, consistent, and accomplished than the derivative and uneven zombie comedies like "Shaun of the Dead" and "Zombieland," which are rated much higher.

I've only shown it to one friend (a horror fan), and she shared my opinion of it. She went even further than I would and said it was a better film than "Day of the Dead," which was one of her favorites.

I'm confident that this really is a great film, and is a rare case of IMDb's users completely missing the boat. I know there's someone on every board saying this about every film, but this is the first time I've actually found it to be true.

Wish I could share your enthusiasm as I enjoy nutty horror like "Reanimator" and even it"a sequels. Even "Society" has a special bizarreness I can enjoy. But one thing I can't tolerate is complete stupidity on everyone's part. The only person who was smart enough to actually run and fight once they realized the doc was a nutcase was a kid. And the police were far too stupid--like the detective who put his fingerprints all over a crime scene. I could truly have given this film more credit if it hadn't been for the total stupidity of the characters. If the stupidity was intentional so I could laugh, that would have helped in the opposite direction.

I believe the stupidity of the cops was intentional. My first impression of them was that they are parodies of typical movie cops. Not sure about the others, although the whole thing is unarguably, to some extent, black comedy.
