It's funny that it's made by the same guy who Directed/wrote Superbad and Adventureland (two films I love) but this film feels so different to those films.

It's that type of film that American Indie cinema in the 90's was great at doing. It has some moments where it drags a little for me, with the scenes where they are at Father/Son flat and the party stuff. But for me the film is stolen by Liev Schreiber as Parker Posey's loveable boyfriend. Ben Stiller's mum Anna Meara is very good as the bitchy mom who at the start seems loveable but turns into a bit of darker character near the end. Hope Davis is good as the main character. Posey can do these type of roles as kooky sister in her sleep but she's very good in this.

It's a film definitely worth checking out and I seem to remember it was held in high opinion by many after it's first few years out but has faded a bit over the last decade or two.

7/10
