If this flick were made today....

.... Eliza would have just called Louis on his cell phone and asked where he was. The end.

Mobile phones should just not exist in movies.

They decide to take the trip when Eliza's mother tells her it's too easy to lie on the phone, therefore she should see him face to face...

did you miss that ?

I remember that part now. Yes, thank you.

My original reply was more of a comment on cell phones as a plot device, and the fact that characters more and more often have to look at their cell, grimace, and state that they aren't getting a signal so the plot can move forward.

However, again... I was wrong. You are right. I admit my mistake.

Don't see that much on IMDB do you?

I agree that the no signal thing has become an horrible cliche !

I think the X-files started it all, every time they had no signal it meant they were like soooo far from civilization and therefore in big trouble :)

If this were made today, it would be a remake, sequel, or action movie lol

It's not like cell phones are lie detectors. He called home and lied about what he was doing on the answering machine. He would have just told her the same thing if she had been home to answer or if she called him earlier.

I was thinking the same thing, when they go to his office and he's not there. Things sure have changed.

LOL!
