How did Ellie die after they all swam through the underwater tunnel?

I guessed it was shock from the combination of the cold, running out of air underwater and losing the dog. Right?

She died of a broken heart, she thought her beloved dog drowned. She was insanely attached to that dog, seeing as how her and her husband were leaving a dog specialist before they got in the tunnel :)

She took a short swim. And then took an arrow to the knee. And died.

They were both getting over the death of their son and the dog became her crutch to cope. When she thought the dog dead, that and the stress of hypothermia caused her to give up and she died.

I think it was a combination of hypothermia and just giving up.
