Some of the worst dialogue

I think they should have spent more time on re-writes.

reply

Watching it right now and couldn't agree with you more.

Don't blame your failure on haters, if everyone thinks you suck, they're not haters, they're right.

reply

A mostly enjoyable movie, but yeah. The part where they explain hypothermia to the audience made me facepalm.

Formerly known as PastorOfMuppets

This was a fine little afternoon thriller, but the dialogue and behavior of the actors in the tunnel really lessened the movie greatly.

When Stallone is one of the top actors in the movie, you should re-evaluate a few things. :)

But yeah, I was rooting for the tunnel/ water/ fire.

reply

afternoon thriller! i like the sound of that!

His name...was Julio Iglesias!

Truly horrible idea of characterization with the survivors.

If anybody ever read comic books, their dialogue runs about like the way Jack Kirby used to write crowd dialogue when he wrote and drew stories.

reply

The oyster exchange was pretty painful.

reply

I agree that some of the dialogue was bad, but I thought the Oyster exchange was just short of brilliant. It was amusing, seemingly nonsensical, but the whole idea was that he was trying to distract her from her fear, which is why the story seemed superficially bizarre.

Not a bad scene. There is plenty of bad dialogue to choose from, it's a shame you chose this one.

reply

Come on it wasn't THAT bad, the worst was how big of douchebags all the survivors acted towards Stallone when he showed up in the Tunnel. I wanted to see most of them die after how big of idiots they acted like.

reply

I agree ,he risked his life to go down there to help them and all they did was talk to him like crap.

reply

Worse than that - the big black guy immediately started strangling him 🤣

reply

I hate to admit it but that part made me laugh. Poor Kit 😂

reply

Then, the black guy gets himself blown up and as he’s dying the old man promises to tell his father that he was ‘a hero’, to which he replies ‘he won’t believe you’ with his dying breath.

The audience is supposed to feel sympathy towards this guy, but I was thinking, ‘yeah, he’d be right not to believe you - his kid’s a violent psychopath who strangled a selfless rescue professional as soon as he arrived. He’s not a hero, he’s a villain, and would have gotten everyone else killed had others not wrestled him off Kit.’

reply

It was kind of hard, but maybe because I am a mom I was able to sympathize with him. And since none of the side characters were developed much we don't know what kind of father he had or what led him to a life of crime. For all we know his father may have been abusive and horrible to him 🙁

reply

That’s what the filmmakers wanted you to think, but that black kid was a psychotic bully who strangled the saviour. So his dad would be right to not believe that his asshole son was a ‘hero’.

reply

Yep, this movie could have really benefited from a sharper script. I’ll never understand how Hollywood can spend hundreds of millions on these blockbusters but fail to drop a talented screenwriter a couple grand to polish up a wooden screenplay.

The dad was especially badly written and acted, he was a one dimensional caricature. Vigo did a good job but he didn’t stick around for long. Stallone and Brenneman just about kept it afloat.

reply

I actually love this movie but I agree with you about the dialogue..

"They're just shit with feet" when referring to the rats was just stupid. Ugh.
